Scalable Coder: Inheritance, Polymorphism & Networks

Level 5 is where your child moves from writing code to architecting it. Projects grow across sessions, systems talk to each other, and robots make decisions of their own.

Across the year, they'll build an idle tycoon game powered by upgrades and automation, a live multiplayer party game where every answer is sent, scored and revealed in real time, and a robot arena where bots scan, react and cooperate as a team.

They'll use inheritance and polymorphism to build flexible systems, packets and shared game states to keep connected players in sync, and AI logic to give robots the ability to assess, decide and act on their own.

By the end of this year, your child will be able to build projects that grow over time, manage live gameplay across connected programs, and use reusable, structured code to create behaviours that scale.

Welcome to Fortune Factory, a growing tycoon world where your child creates the systems that turn simple actions into bigger upgrades, faster progress and automated success.

In this module, your child will create a fully functioning idle game where players earn resources, unlock upgrades and build systems that keep generating progress over time. They'll design how the game looks and feels, then code the logic behind every button, counter and reward.

Along the way, they'll learn how to architect a larger project using classes, objects, inheritance and polymorphism, and explore design patterns that keep bigger codebases organised and easy to extend. As the game develops, they'll add persistent data so progress survives between sessions, and tune the balance to make every upgrade feel earned.

By the end of this course, your child will have built a complete idle tycoon game with a custom interface, saved progress and a structured codebase that can support a larger project.

Welcome to Party Protocol, where every answer has to reach the right place at exactly the right moment.

Your child will build both sides of a live multiplayer party game: a server that runs the show and client programs that handle each player's responses. They'll learn how hosts, servers and clients communicate, how to package information into packets so it travels correctly, and how to keep a shared game state in sync across multiple connected programs.

As the game develops, they'll manage prompts, scoring, round flow and dramatic answer reveals. They'll also explore binary encoding and asynchronous functions, giving the game the ability to keep moving while information is still being exchanged.

By the end of this course, your child will have created a working networked party game prototype and will understand how connected programs communicate, stay in sync and control live gameplay.

Bot Battles | Build. Blast. Outlast.

Welcome to Bot Battles, where your child creates a team of coded robots, each with its own role, reactions and strategy inside the arena.

Your child will build a squad of robots that share a common structure but behave in completely different ways. Using inheritance and polymorphism, they'll create a reusable base and extend it into distinct robot types, each with its own strengths, role and place in the team.

Then the real fun begins. AI logic gives each bot the ability to scan the arena, read the situation and react. Aiming, cooldowns and projectile systems turn them into genuine competitors, before cooperative play comes into its own with robots that follow leaders, share information and fight together towards a common goal.

By the end of this course, your child will have built a robot arena with multiple specialised robot types, used AI logic to drive decision-making and cooperative team behaviours, and developed a solid understanding of how inheritance and polymorphism power flexible, intelligent systems at scale.

FAQs

What does a virtual class mean?

A virtual class is a scheduled interactive online lesson delivered by FunTech.

All our virtual software is Citrix driven and so extremely safe

How does the virtual class work?

All students receive a virtual orientation lesson before the start of their course.

For each lesson, your child will receive an email invitation containing a link allowing them to log onto our virtual classroom. We schedule a maximum of four students who are predominately based in the UK, however, a few of our students have moved abroad due to parents work commitments and therefore log in from further afield.

The lessons themselves are the exact same as is delivered in a physical classroom. Through our virtual classroom environment, your child has the option to raise their hand, ask questions and also speak to the other students in their class (though we do have a mute all option '- just in case!)

FunTech teachers are able to pass control of their monitor to an individual student or share it amongst all the students. With permission, we can take control of a students' monitor to demonstrate concepts, share common mistakes or outstanding work as we would in a physical classroom.
