Hacking has its perks (it its not patched, this should be 8 stars)

Great week, where we learned how to use Kali linux to do [ETHICAL] hacking! :D The couse is clear and has great challenging tasks! Thank you! Also we need CyberSecurity 2!
All in all the week went great, and accomodation, food, teachers and other students were lovely!

I learnt a lot. I booked on this course because I wasn't old enough for the next stage of CyberFirst, now I feel confident enough for when I am able to. You learn very interesting things and the tutors are always happy to help if you need it. I made lots of friends during my time here and had lots of fun with them. We got little emoji keychains too! We used virtual machines to practice. The course is set up with lots of interesting assignments and we get to take notes along the way.
The food and board was very good. I'm not sure how well a picky eater would do but I know we had lots of alternative options for allergies, intolerances and dietary preferences. In the evenings we had lots of entertainment opportunities. We played mafia far too many times haha but there was table tennis, football, foosball, card games and more. On Thursday we had a movie night :D JMA absolutely destroyed me in Super Smash Bros (twice) but I'll be practicing for next year. The dorms were cool, I was lucky and my hallway only had me and Jess. It was cool to get to sort of experience boarding school for a bit. Me and Jess played Cuphead a few times too (we weren't very good lol)
I wish there was something like a (moderated) student forum on the portal so we could share advice with fellow students and ask for things like course recommendations with other students.

As the title says, I had an amazing time learning to hack. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I started the course, but from the second day onwards we were hacking actual virtual computers! The tutors were really friendly and helpful, and the lunches were really tasty. I found using the Linux Command Terminal really interesting, but my favourite part of the course was learning how to crack password hashes. I really like the fact that we had notes documents that we were constantly updating, as it made it really easy to look back at what we had done before. I would definitely recommend, 5 stars!

My time was amazing, I was fully invested in the hacking aspect and overwhelmed by the stuff they actually allowed us to do. The instructors were so open to talk and play games. Shout-out to JMA and Abul. The facilities were amazing playing foosball and table-tennis with the instructors/kids. The afternoon activities were a highlight to my day, playing Dodgeball, Minecraft, Movie night, Scuba. The instructors were sacrificing sleep, to cater to our possible needs. 100% would come again. Big W.

It was really fun and super interesting. I've learnt a lot of a whole new computing language in five days. Some of the content we learnt in Hackathon (we were told) might actually come up in GCSE, such as what cookies are and what http(s) stands for. However, I feel like I don't exactly understand as much as I would have liked and the final project I feel is a big step up from what we've learned over the week. Overall, really enjoyed!

Lovely camp

This camp was very informative and fun, and it had nice, very patient instructors.

Very fun camp with many interesting opportunities to learn

I enjoyed this camp very much. I found that the techniques and skills were very easy to pick up thanks to both the teachers and the interactive slide show that the class went through. I will definitely recommend this to my friends.

HACKATHON

i learnt sooo much valuable knowledge about hecking! ye very good! bogos binted! jma would be proud.. anyway good course. we covered lots of topics from ip scanning to html form attacking and metasploit. the teachers were peak no cap and helped whenever. shout out to joe and vigus lolzers

This was a very informative camp that was quite interesting and gave a lot of insight onto how cybersecurity and hacking works.

Challenging but fun

We moved through the course quickly, but I understood it well and it was explained clearly. We did many challenges, which I found hard but rewarding.

I learned a lot and we were able to test what we learned by hacking into servers and trying to find files or cracking passwords

it was amazing overall and I really enjoyed the camp in general it was a ten out of ten. The coach was amazing at teacher and the head ( Yousra ) was also really nice.

Previously I have completed 5 Funtech courses this potentially being my last and through my time at Funtech I have learnt so much due to the small dedicated classes and specialist teachers that don't always feel like teachers and more like friends making it seem as if you are having fun with friends whilst you are learning giving you the perfect mix of spending time with a screen and spending time with people a similar ages to you. I originally started my Funtech journey a while before covid when I was completing a day course in scratch then it went to Lego robotics then python we then had covid which gave me a break from coding then I started last year it was my first residential coding course where I was further advancing my python knowledge and now when I am doing the hackathon course I have been able to use similar thinking to allow me to progress quickly through different tasks and for the additional residential activities they are amazing this includes the variety of facilities and equipment that I have access to this then allowing me to form friendships with most of the class plus the knowledge that I have learnt has given me a new way of thinking allowing me to look at computer science as fun not work letting me progress with higher grades in my GCSE's which would be brilliant potentially giving me a life long career in computer science as I am currently interested in going to a-level if not a university masters degree. I would highly recommend sending your child to any Funtech course and I can guarantee that they will enjoy there course activities and much more.

The week was great, interactive and interesting the course goes through the basics as well as some slightly more advanced but simple codes. The tutors help every time you need and are up for any questions you throw at them and keep you entertained throughout the breaks as well as enjoying your time with you.

For the course it is THE BEST course that I've ever done and takes the most complex codes and breaks them down throughout five days.

Funtech overall is great even one evening hosting a gaming tournament for both day and residential students.

I really enjoyed most of my time in the camp. The lessons were interactive, very educational and fun. I learnt quite a lot in the space of the week. I made loads of amazing friends and an absolute blast. They help you with everything, in lesson and out. Lunchtime breaks always had energetic and fun activities and game time (17:00-21:00/22:00 depending on age) were always an enjoyable and calming time playing pool, football, basketball with friends or crashing on the couch watching your phone, TV or playing board games with friends. Would go again.

We were provided with good food and lots of fun activities, keeping us entertained and occupied the whole time, even giving us a minecraft tournament. The course could be difficult for some, but all answers you need are given to you and they accept all levels of skill.

THE FUNTECH CAMP IS COOL

The lunches are yummy in my tummy, good activities and the teachers join in as well and we learn lots of coding. Good, Fun and good Teaching.Great camp.

Worthwhile experience

Very good and learnt a lot. Recommend it a lot and cool teachers. The teachers are highly qualified and clever as well as nice. By doing this course you are being taught by geniuses especially Tom. Tom is a very good teaher.

I was doing the hackathon course and as someone who has never hacked before I did not know what to expect other than that it would be hard. Even though I had no experience of hacking, Tom and Seb helped me a ton with hacking and always come to my aid with insightful and full responses to my many questions. I also really liked how every hour we get a 15 minute break of social games away from the computer. I really enjoyed playing mafia and splat. I was surprised at how spacious the rooms were and and the fact that we get one room per person. The food was also good and lunch activities were also fun. My only pet peeve is that they did not let us order food but Its not that big of a deal. In conclusion, I really recommend going to this camp if you want to have an amazing time and still somehow learn a lot and meet a bunch of new people.

I can sum up my experience this week with FunTech in one word; superb. Superb teachers, who're always are the help and guide you in the right direction; Amazing lessons, that keep every one engaged and excited to learn; Fantastic breaks; that give us moments of rest whilst also being really fun! In summary, FunTech Barbican is one of the best Computer Science Camps you could ever go to. In my time at the camp

I studied Ethical Hacking (Hackathon) in a group of 6 , which was not so many that I did not get the help I needed in a timely fashion, but not too many that I was able to grow friendships and bonds with the people in my group. The Teacher who taught us (Alliyah) was always there when we needed, and explained what we needed to do, and why we needed to do it; a perfect example of a model teacher. The Teacher and my group where not the only upsides though; the curriculum that they taught us was both entertaining and engaging with interesting subjects and topics that covered the whole field of Cyber Security from Ethics to Social Engineering.

In conclusion, my time at FunTech was "the Ritz", a 10/10 experience and would 100% do again if they had a second, more advanced, course. No matter there age, you kid will love and enjoy there time here.

I really enjoyed this camp, I learnt so much. I would really recommend this camp for other people as it was really informative! I also liked how I learnt how computers work, to understand how passwords are stored.

Week Review

It was very fun as well informative, this was quite interesting as the teacher (Dylan) would give us each useful help for each of our need. Hacking the passwords was exhilarating especially when we cracked it!
